Words may come soon.....but not today.

One of the greatest men I have ever met during my time on this earth....

We will race on his track this weekend. I will have tears in my eyes while we do.

This is becoming an all too familiar thing for all of us. Saying goodbye to so many the last few years. All have been tough to handle, but the loss of Zipp hits especially close to home.
John was the most generous, supportive and humble person I've ever had the privilege of calling my friend. And, he was this way with countless others too. He was a great builder and racer. I raced his Zippmobiles several times over the years with the highlight being winning the 2011 HOPRA national championship in Pro SS with one of his cars. I'm not sure who was more happy - me or him. He wasn't at the race, but I made sure to call him with the big news. We'd always planned to get together in person to raise a glass to celebrate the win, but sadly that never came to pass. He may be gone from this world now, but the memories will live on. If you were ever lucky enough to attend one of his Outhouse Invitationals, you already know how legendary these events were. The one thing about John was he never really talked about himself or his wide range of interests, talents and achievements. Many probably didn't know he was a highly regarded piano tuner and restorer. To learn more about him, here's a link to his obituary: ... guest-book

Was a very sad day when I heard of John's passing. Very fortunate to be able to attend his service and mourn with fellow slotters. RIP John. May all the trigger springs in your controllers be leaf springs from '57 Chevys.

John was a fine gentleman indeed! Man we had some fun at those Outhouse races. It's too bad that it requires such a sad event to bring back such good memories.

Rest easy my friend................
